Holiday Lights Recycling in the Kansas City Region
Southeast and its community partners are excited to build on the success of last year’s drive and hope to collect and recycle over 34,000 pounds of holiday lights between 11/17/13 and 1/26/14. In addition to keeping holiday lights out of the landfill, we have the benefit of providing challenging work for over 160 employees with developmental disabilities. Look for our collection containers inside of over 165 participating schools, businesses, recycling centers, and community organizations.

Here is how the drive works:
From November 17th, 2013 through January 26th, 2014 a collection container will be delivered to retail stores, businesses and other collection sites. Wal-Mart sites will be collecting from November 17th, 2013 – December 30th, 2013.
- Southeast will pick up full containers and exchange them for empty ones weekly.
- There is no fee or expense to participate in the program.
- 100% of holiday lights we collect will be recycled.
